Purchasing Agent

Purchasing Agent We're looking for a detail-driven Purchasing Agent with hands-on SAP experience to support our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating supplier terms, and working closely with plant management and production teams to ensure uninterrupted, cost-effective supply. The ideal candidate understands the pace and priorities of a manufacturing environment and thrives at the intersection of strategy, collaboration, and execution. Key Responsibilities Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers to support production and operational needs Negotiate pricing, terms, contracts, and delivery schedules to optimize cost and performance Utilize SAP to create and manage purchase orders, track inventory, and maintain accurate procurement data Partner closely with plant management, production, and operations teams to align purchasing with production schedules Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or shortages Support cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within the supply chain Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and industry standards Qualifications 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of SAP (MM or related modules preferred) Proven ability to negotiate contracts and supplier terms Experience working directly with plant management and production teams Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Preferred Skills Experience with raw materials, components, or production-related purchasing Understanding of inventory management and production planning Continuous improvement or cost-reduction experience
