Salary: $57.68 Hourly Location : Addictions Treatment & Crisis Care Program Building - Waukegan, IL Job Type: Flex/PRN Job Number: 15452 Department: Health Department Division: Physical Health / Healthcare Operations Opening Date: 01/28/2026 Salary Grade: Ungraded General Description The Advance Practice Nurse is a valuable member of our Behavioral Health/Addiction Treatment team who provides direct medical clinical care of residential clients including: ordering of lab tests, completing physicals, counseling of patients, developing treatment plans and prescribing medication and MAR within the scope of their education and certification of the collaborative agreement with their collaborating physician. Follows protocols and policies within the program. Works primarily with residential clients receiving substance use rehab and withdrawal management as well as crisis services. Schedule: Based on the needs of the clinic Essential FunctionsCollaborative agreement with appropriate physician, if not certified for independent practice in Illinois Evaluates clients regarding their treatment needs related to addictions and withdrawal management, manages medical aspects of addictions and withdrawal management, and prescribes medication when appropriate. Performs addictions-related psychiatric or medical evaluations, as requested by other staff members, for purposes of diagnosis and for treatment planning. Conducts crisis intervention/evaluation/referral to persons who present themselves at the program. Consults with staff regarding clients not necessarily seen directly by the physician. This will include, but is not limited to, cases in which medical or psychiatric supervision is necessary for insurance purposes. Facilitates with clients and collaborates with the treatment team to develop, review and update treatment goals and referrals both internally and externally. Provides education and direction to clients, family members and/or significant others. Takes responsibility for training in and documenting clinical chart requirements to meet program and state standards. Addiction Treatment Program (ATP) residential care specific responsibilities: Medical screening of all potential ATP client candidates, as well as Crisis Care Program (CCP). History and Physical Exams of all ATP withdrawal management ("Detox") and rehabilitation clients, and of CCP clients as needed Medical treatment for ATP withdrawal management clients, including prescribing medication and monitoring progress. Medical addiction treatment for ATP rehabilitation clients when appropriate, including prescribing Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) Medical care of ATP and CCP clients in a residential setting. Coordinating care with ATP nurses and counselors, and with CCP staff when needed. Coordination with ATP and CCP psychiatric care providers. Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education RequiredGraduation prior to start date from a Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from a Family Nurse Practitioner FNP program accredited by either the CCNE or the ACEN, or Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) program accredited by either the CCNE or the ACEN (1) one year of experience providing medication-assisted recovery (MAR) half-time, or equivalent preferred Certification and Licensure Initial and continuing certification as a: FNP by the ANCC, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board (AANPCB) or other national certifying body as required by state law, or ANP by the ANCC, or other national certifying body as required by state law. Current active and unrestricted license from the State of Illinois as an Advanced Practice Nurse; or a letter from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation stating that the application for licensure endorsement has been approved, with receipt of Illinois license following within six months of initial application date for endorsement Current active and unrestricted Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) from the State of Illinois Registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) CARA Act waiver from the DEA.
