American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in St. Louis, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/30/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and Level I Trauma background. Responsibilities Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 Patient population includes geriatric trauma (55), abuse/violence victims, MVA, falls, TBI, acute care surgical cases (appendicitis, hernia repairs, burns, fistulas, wounds), and post-ICU/OR/ED step-down patients Specialized procedures include blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, IV insertion, insulin and PCA management, peripheral nerve block catheters, surgical drain and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound vac care, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and isolation precautions Special equipment includes lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators Charting via Epic (experience required) Every other weekend required Floating within scope required to meet facility needs No on-call requirement Short-term acute care hospital setting within a Magnet and teaching facility 13-week contract minimum; longer contracts may be considered Scrub color: Navy Blue RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation Travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required Former permanent employees of the BJC health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility; local candidates are not accepted Pre-orientation modules must be completed prior to start Requirements Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required Level I Trauma experience required EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management required; must pass a Relias EKG exam Epic EMR experience required Experience with spinal cord injuries, TBI, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and chest tube management required Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-678220.
