Position Type: Student Support Services Date Posted: 12/4/2025 Location: Griffith School District Date Available: ASAP Occupational Therapist Immediate Supervisor: Building Principals, Director of Special Education Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits determined by experience FLSA Status: Exempt Job Summary: The full-time Occupational Therapist leads the process in development, implementation, and coordination of the occupational therapy program. Screening, evaluation, educational program and transition planning, therapeutic intervention, and exit planning are provided for students identified with or suspected of having disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform daily life activities or participate in necessary or desired occupations. The OT must be able to perform the attached essential job functions and satisfactorily demonstrate the competencies for certified staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The information contained in this job description is for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position. The individuals currently holding this position perform additional duties, and additional duties may be assigned. Provides Occupational Therapy intervention for students utilizing exercises and equipment to facilitate fine and/or gross motor coordination based on the goals and objectives in the student's IEP/ISP. Participates in IEP case conferences upon request. Monitors student progress and communicates with the IEP team members. Evaluates students to determine need for occupational therapy. Consults with classroom teachers regarding occupational therapy plans for each student. Provides community resources as needed. Completes evaluations and IEP paperwork within allotted timelines. Leads professional development upon request by the Director of Special Education. Follows all rules, regulations, as well as policies/procedures outlined by the building principals and Griffith Public Schools. Performs other duties as assigned or required through the students' IEP needs. Qualifications: Listed below are the minimum qualifications for this job, though an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may be accepted. Minimum Master's degree in occupational therapy, as required by state and contract. Valid State Certification as specified in the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (PLA) School OT services and evaluation experience preferred. Ability to read, write and communicate in English to understand directions and communicate with students. Experience working with students with special needs. Ability to physically move about the building. Ability to lift and position students (30-80 pounds) if assigned to a classroom with such requirements. Ability to speak in a clear and concise manner, interpret data, work independently and meet daily attendance requirements. Desire to continue career improvement.
