Salary : $40,851.00 - $53,102.00 Annually Location : Charlotte, MI Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 202500084 Department: Friend of the Court Opening Date: 12/03/2025 Closing Date: Continuous General Summary Under the supervision of the Friend of the Court, assists in the enforcement of court orders pertaining to child support. Monitors cases to ensure compliance with the court order and follow up with enforcement actions. Initiates enforcement actions such as income withholding orders, orders to show cause or warrants. Responds to inquiries related to enforcement procedures, case arrearages and other activity. Attempts to negotiate resolutions to enforcement actions. Starting pay is dependent on an applicant's relevant experienceApplications are accepted until there are sufficient numbers of qualified applications or a qualified candidate is identified. This position could close at any time. Essential Functions Regularly monitors support payment records and follows-up on court orders as necessary. May include (a) Sending letters to individuals delinquent in making payments to inform them of amount of arrears, requesting office appearance to review records and discuss problems and consequences of payment delinquency (b) Initiating income withholding order modifications (c) Initiating order to show cause in delinquency cases and scheduling court hearing and/or (d) Initiating and preparing bench warrants. Sets up new support and alimony cases, mails instruction letters to both parties and issues an incoming withholding order. Prepares show cause hearing petitions for modification of orders. Reviews case files and ensures their completeness and readiness for court action. Provides Friend of the Court with all pertinent information regarding the case. Negotiates with clients scheduled for court hearing to attempt to resolve the matter without formal court action. Conducts show cause hearings in front of Referees and Judges and generates and processes enforcement orders following these hearings. Audits client files upon request of attorneys, clients and others. Requires tracking the accounting history of the file, including timing of children moving between parents, changes in support billings,reconciliations and separations of parents and ensuring the accuracy of the account. Regularly confers with parents, attorneys, related agencies and others regarding domestic relations actions to answer procedural questions and provide specific case information. Meets with clients to go over specific problems regarding their case. Assists in maintaining current computer data files on cases and helps keep them current based on modified orders. Processes visitation abatements. Processes certifications and decertification's from DHS, adjusting and correcting the account as needed. Types and distributes court orders following court hearing and prepares and processes court orders reflecting settlements reached without court action. Monitors cases submitted for tax intercept, verifies and makes deletions and modifications. Records receipt of tax offset monies and modifies income withholding order as appropriate. Enforces medical provisions of court orders with responsibility for ensuring court ordered insurance coverage and payment of health care expenses for dependent children. Tries to resolve issues without court enforcement. Reviews suspense reports and determines appropriate disposition of monies. Mails letters to clients eligible for any and all State programs offered. Processes adjustments and follows up as necessary. Prepares affidavits of account status for other agencies. Attends monthly and yearly County and statewide meetings to remain current on policies, laws and upgrades. Other Functions: None listed. Minimum Qualifications Must be a high school graduate, or equivalent. Prefer some advanced coursework in interpersonal communications or human services areas. One to two years of experience in a capacity providing familiarity with the court system. Some experience with data processing systems and accounting.
