Full-Time,12-month, Exempt Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Upper Campus Nurse will have the primary responsibility of providing health related services to students at the Upper School. Primary Responsibilities: Attend to sick and injured children. Advise parents regarding illnesses and injuries. Contact parents if student needs to leave school or in case of medical emergency Maintain daily medical log describing symptoms, medical treatment, etc. Maintain and administer medication and treatments (breathing, etc.) to students as requested by families. Order supplies, as well as stock and maintain the nurse's supply cabinet. Work with the teachers, students, parents, and staff to teach health-related subjects when appropriate. Assist and coordinate required hearing and eye testing. Certify all teachers in CPR training. Review and administer forms sent out by the school for permission for medical treatment and authorization for medications taken during school hours. Maintain medical records required by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. (Records must be completed properly as required by the state prior to the beginning of school. Contact families regarding compliance.) Provide support and advice to all members of staff on matters relating to health issues. Serve as first responder in emergency situations and perform first aid to sick or injured persons. Prior to the opening of school and/or prior to a student's participating in a particular sport, compile a list of students with health concerns and distribute to the appropriate administrator or administrators personnel. Maintain up-to-date emergency information and confidential records, and identify all health concerns to appropriate school personnel. Assist administrators and counselors in appropriate referrals to the proper medical professionals or agencies. Follow up all medical emergencies with proper documentation and communication with parents, spouse or relative. Act as nurse for summer programs located at the Senior School Campus for 3 weeks of summer camp Other duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited College or University required Certification in School Nursing preferred Ideal candidate will choose to live on campus Experience in a pediatric or school setting preferred Must possess Act 33/34 clearances Ability to work evenings, overnights and weekends as needed Successful completion of state-mandated clearances
