Forbes Hospital is a 315-bed, Level II trauma center located in Monroeville, offering comprehensive services akin to city hospitals, including trauma care, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, interventional cardiology, obstetrics, and psychiatry. Join us in building strong relationships within our community. As a Wound Ostomy Nurse, you will be a vital clinical resource and consultant for patients with various gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary disorders. Your responsibilities will include: Utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with WOC needs. Maintaining comprehensive assessment and communication skills to meet individual patient requirements. Participating in committees focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care. Consulting on care plans for patients with altered skin integrity to achieve desired outcomes. Guiding staff in implementing protocols for preventing skin breakdown. Conducting debridement of devitalized tissue as ordered. Providing education to patients and caregivers on skin care and wound management. Validating pressure ulcer data for nursing quality indicators. Delivering pre- and postoperative education for ostomy surgery patients and families. Assessing stoma health and managing stoma care postoperatively. Establishing management programs for urinary or fecal continence disorders. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement best practice protocols for WOC care. Maintaining required reporting and collaborating with leadership to ensure successful outcomes. Qualifications for this position include: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or relevant experience. Graduation from a WOCN-accredited program or completion within 18 months of hire. Act 34, 33, and 73 background clearance certificates. Current Pennsylvania RN licensure. CPR certification. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing. Two to four years of relevant nursing experience. Current CWOCN certification.
