JOB SUMMARY The shuttle service driver position is responsible for driving patient shuttle vehicle and assisting patients as needed in utilizing the service. Driver is responsible for assisting in the coordination of vehicle maintenance and cleaning. They should strive for superior performance by consistently providing a service that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Provide excellent customer service and serve as an Ambassador for Memorial Healthcare; Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a service that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience; Drives shuttle vehicle to passenger's homes and transports them to destinations and returns them home; Maintains transportation log; Provides input on vehicle maintenance and coordinates scheduled maintenance and repairs; Maintains daily cleanliness of shuttle vehicle and coordinates larger detailing services with local vendor; Collaborates with route scheduler and coordinator to determine appropriate daily passenger load, activity and route; Demonstrates job related aspects of patient safety to assure a safe environment, safe and effective use of equipment and technology, and decreased risk of potential adverse patient occurrences; Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior; Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to appropriately interact with diverse individuals of all ages who may access the shuttle service; Performs other duties as assigned by the Shuttle Services Coordinator or designee, such as transport visitors/patients from building entrances to their vehicles. JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES (List required and preferred if applicable) High School Diploma or GED required; Must be able to read, write, and follow both written and spoken instructions; Have and maintain a valid chauffeurs license and good driving record; Have and maintain BLS skills through the American Heart Association. EXPERIENCE 3-5 years of prior training and experience in providing excellent customer service, managing work load, and professional driving; Previous healthcare experience a plus although not required; On the job training will be provided. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES/MOTOR SKILLS Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities; Able to stand for long periods of time; Able to independently load/unload into and out of hospital vehicle and delivery supplies, reports, etc. weighing up to 50 pounds and able to retrieve supplies from shelves 5' to floor level; Able to drive hospital vehicle independently between hospital and all delivery points. Must be able to drive at night without difficulties; Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC). ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations; Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents including, but not limited to policies, operating instructions, directions, maps, regulations, rules and laws; Comprehends and executes written and verbal instructions; Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when performing job responsibilities; Displays good judgment and ability in handling potentially difficult and/or delicate situations. Possess the ability to maintain self-control even when clients are angry or abusive; Possess the ability to interpret medical terminology abbreviations; Ability to handle stress of driving in poor weather/road conditions; Clear, understandable and timely oral & written communications with proficient use of English language. Properly utilizes communication devices. ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Able to see for the purpose of reading information received in formats including but not limited to paper, computer, reports, bulletins, updates, manuals; Able to see and hear for work-related purposes. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS Ability to interact with co-workers, hospital staff, administration, customers, physicians, the public and all internal and external customers in a professional and effective, courteous and tactful manner, at all times, physically, verbally and in all written and electronic communication; Courteous, cooperative, works well with customers and acts as an ambassador for the Memorial Healthcare (MHC). Demonstrates empathy and creates positive customer experience; Required to remain calm when adversity is encountered; Open, honest, and tactful communication skills; Ability to work as a team member in all activities; Positive, cooperative and motivated attitude; Excellent customer service skills.
