Job Description

Senior Purchasing Agent Are you a strategic thinker who enjoys building strong supplier partnerships, negotiating smart deals, and keeping operations running smoothly? As a Senior Purchasing Agent, you will play a critical role in sourcing and procuring materials that meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and production demands. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, quality, operations, finance, and customer-facing teams to ensure materials are available, costs are competitive, and suppliers are performing at a high level. You will have the opportunity to influence supplier strategy, support new product launches, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for a seasoned purchasing professional who values integrity, thrives on problem-solving, and stays ahead of market trends while balancing multiple priorities. What You'll Do Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements to deliver competitive value and support business goals. Source and procure materials in accordance with technical specifications, quality standards, and production requirements. Partner with suppliers to address quality, delivery, or performance issues and drive corrective actions. Identify and develop new sourcing options for both existing and new products. Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, production, sales, customer service, and accounting to support operational needs. Manage supplier relationships to ensure expectations for cost, quality, delivery, and service are consistently met. Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering changes by coordinating supplier readiness and material transitions. Analyze forecasts, demand signals, and MRP data to proactively manage inventory and prevent shortages or excess. Participate in cross-functional initiatives focused on process improvements and continuous improvement. Stay informed on purchasing best practices, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics. Represent the company with professionalism, integrity, and ethical judgment in all interactions. Adapt to changing priorities and solve complex problems in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field. Five (5) or more years of purchasing experience in an MRP-driven manufacturing environment. Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and commodity sourcing. Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Excellent analytical abilities with strong attention to detail. Experience supporting change management and continuous improvement initiatives. Understanding of sourcing indexes and market trends relevant to manufacturing. Working knowledge of compliance requirements, confidentiality, and internal controls. A collaborative, service-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving and prioritization skills. Why You'll Love This Role Your work directly supports production, engineering, and quality, not just spreadsheets. The decisions you make keep materials flowing and products moving. This is an engineering-driven, manufacturing-focused environment where precision, reliability, and accountability matter, and where purchasing is viewed as a strategic partner, not a back-office function. You'll have ownership over supplier relationships, sourcing strategy, and negotiations, with the opportunity to influence outcomes and drive real, measurable results. If you enjoy tackling supply challenges, navigating change, and finding practical solutions in a fast-paced operation, you'll feel right at home. Ethical decision-making, strong relationships, and doing things the right way are core expectations, not afterthoughts. From supporting new product introductions to continuous improvement initiatives, you'll play a key role in strengthening and evolving the supply base that supports long-term manufacturing success. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This role is performed primarily in an office and manufacturing environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. The role requires regular sitting, use of hands and arms, and the ability to communicate verbally. Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching may be required.
