Description POSITION SUMMARY The Store Accounting Department Leader is responsible for performing a variety of duties from backroom calculations. S/he is responsible for running sales reports, completing payment slips for invoice processing and the processing and balancing of credit card transaction at store level. S/he must be detail oriented and good with numbers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES (responsibilities include, but are not limited to) Store Accounting: Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department Adhere to all cash office and back door security procedures Opens and processes invoices for payment Performs data entry on all transactions as directed by Store Manager Updates and produces daily sales reports Compiles and sorts accounting reports Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as credit card transaction May reconcile credit card and bank statements. Runs errands (i.e. to the post office, etc.) Manage monthly and end-year procedures Follow returned item credit procedures Accurate entry of product received or credited on system Provides accounting support to Store Manager and Assistant Manager Follows policies and procedures; Completes tasks correctly and on time Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions Other tasks as assigned by Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager Auditing: Audits refund and/or credits issued in department against itemized sales from the previous day Researches problems discovered during audits and communicates problems with the Store Manager Presents numerical data effectively Conducts cash audits Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements Coordinate and complete annual audits Receive and verify product deliveries and returns Department Maintenance: Reports all irregular issues and problems to the Store Manager for solutions Complies and maintains confidentiality of all company policies and procedure Maintains cleanliness of work area and storage area Ensures a safe and secure work environment Customer Service: Helps solve problems that affect the store's efficiency, service and productivity Exemplify key concepts of hospitality when interacting with guests Inventory: Tracks and creates Inventory Reports with information and discoveries for the Store Manager Inventory counts as and when needed Researches problems discovered during inventory in the department to Store Manager Personnel Management: Responsible for the training, coaching and development of effective staff for the Accounting Department Creates department staff schedule Reviews department associates' timesheets for accuracy of hours, overtime, PSL, Holiday, PTO requests Maintains good communication with store management, associates and outside contacts Build strong working relationships with guests, vendors and associates Prepares Performance Evaluations as required for direct reports Conducts weekly meetings with staff to communicate relevant information from the upper management ADDITIONAL DUTIES Cross Training: As a member of the company, s/he exemplifies teamwork and is open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities and is willing to be trained and step in when needed. Safety, Loss Prevention and Procedural Compliance: Follows Company guidelines for managing confidential information, customer satisfaction and supervising store personnel Follow safety practices such as: washing hands, wearing a clean uniform per shift, etc.... Under the direction of immediate supervisor, administers IIPP Procedures, Safety Program and Procedures Assists immediate supervisor in Loss Prevention in curbing internal and external theft Ensures satisfactory maintenance, appearance and condition of assigned facilities to comply with security, safety and environmental codes and ordinances Enforces compliance with all local, state, federal regulations and company policy pertaining to safety and loss prevention Complies with all Health Compliance and Food Regulations Complies with all OSHA requirements Requirements QUALIFICATIONS The required qualifications are as follows: Able to solve math & accounting problems/questions Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management Ability to interact with all levels of management EDUCATION Associate degree from a two-year College is preferred, but not required A minimum of 2 to 5 years of work experience in a retail or grocery chain establishment also preferred, but not required Customer service experience in a similar or comparable work environment, strong verbal communication skills supported by a pleasant and positive attitude of "can do" success Strong operational skills with focus on great time management Previous experience in retail/restaurant or customer service environment required, previous experience in management preferably of a grocery store highly desirable
