Job Type Full-time Description POSITION SUMMARY: Schedules patient appointments for office and other clinical setting visits. Answers voicemails, faxes, and triage questions. Completes Prior Authorizations, Pre-certifications, and Referrals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to): Makes patient appointments and enters into scheduling software. Maintains schedules as directed. Answers telephone, checks voicemail messages, and returns calls. Set up referral appointments, when necessary, in conjunction with procedures being done. Arrange other facility time and services when necessary for procedures. Reschedule appointments at the patient and provider's request. Answers questions regarding patient appointments or information. Maintains strict confidentiality and follows HIPPA. Speaks with providers and management about schedule issues, offering resolutions to those issues. Share information about patient needs with other staff members to complete care. Performs other duties as assigned, such as voicemails, faxes, triage questions, prior authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals. Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and systems. Knowledge of office management practices, and secretarial procedures. Skill in computer applications and Microsoft Office platforms. Skill in gathering and reporting information. Must have a pleasant disposition. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Communicate well with the public. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Medical Assistant or LPN/RN High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare business office. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Must possess sufficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office. Required normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and evaluations. May require lifting papers and boxes up to 25 pounds occasionally. WORKING CONDITIONS (environment and safety): Work performed in the office environment. Involves frequent contact with professional staff and managed care organizations. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is frequent and often disruptive.
