Summary of Position: Cost Estimator compiles accurate internal standard cost elements to create part and corresponding tool quotes for stamping and fabricating in a timely manner using customer print and specifications as primary input. Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Use manufacturing knowledge, KMC process knowledge, print, specifications and part data (model) to develop accurate manufacturing steps, bill of materials and labor rates utilizing quote software Manipulate customer supplied CAD data to estimate material consumption, tool concepts, etc. Select standard tooling and standard tool methods based on manufacturing steps Interact with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to define the details of the cost estimate Determine quote class and priority to allocate appropriate time and resources Initiate feasibility review as appropriate and incorporate results into quote package Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required. High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of quoting stamping and/or fabricating or five years of relevant manufacturing experience Knowledge of post manufacturing operations preferred (plating, painting, heat treat, etc.) Computer proficiency Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and multitask Knowledge of Paperless Parts or similar quoting software preferred Working knowledge of 3D CAD software required, SolidWorks preferred Ability to read blueprints required, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) preferred Familiarity with material types and properties Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to sit and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
