A Child Care Director manages the daily operations of a childcare facility, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and compliant environment. They are responsible for recruiting and training staff, overseeing curriculum development, managing budgets, and communicating with parents. Key goals include maintaining safety standards, boosting enrollment, and supporting staff professional development. Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management: Direct daily operations, including opening/closing, facility maintenance, and compliance with local, state, and federal licensing regulations.Staff Leadership: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate teachers and administrative staff, fostering a positive work environment.Curriculum & Development: Oversee the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate, engaging, and educational curricula.Safety & Security: Ensure the facility meets all health and safety regulations, including conducting emergency drills and maintaining equipment.Parental Communication: Act as the primary liaison between families and the center, handling inquiries, tours, and concerns.Financial & Administrative Tasks: Manage the annual budget, payroll, tuition billing, and maintain accurate child and employee records.Marketing & Enrollment: Market the facility to the community to drive enrollment. QualificationsEducation: A bachelor's or associate degree in early childhood education (ECE), child development, or a related field is preferred.Experience: Prior experience as a lead teacher or assistant director in a childcare setting, demonstrating leadership skills.Licensing/Certification: Must meet state-specific, legal requirements, which may include a Directors Credential, CPR/First Aid certification, and background checks.Skills: Strong communication, leadership, financial acumen, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills are essential.
