Position: Sales EstimatorSummary: The Sales Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project cost estimates, working closely with the sales, engineering, and operations teams. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications, performing material take-offs, and developing pricing strategies to acquire new business successfully. The Sales Estimator reports directly to the Sales Manager. Key Responsibilities: Review project documents, including blueprints, specifications, and addendums, to develop a clear understanding of project scope and requirements. Based on project plans, calculate material, labor, equipment, and other associated costs to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates. Develop and submit timely, competitive, and profitable bids and proposals to potential clients. Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the best pricing and availability of materials and services. Work closely with the sales team to strategize bid opportunities and present estimates and proposals to clients. Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with each project to ensure accurate pricing. Recommend cost-effective alternatives that meet the project's specifications and client requirements. Maintain accurate and organized records of all estimates, bids, and related documents for future reference and analysis. Stay informed on market conditions, industry trends, and competitor activities to provide insights that can improve bid success rates. Engage with clients to clarify project requirements, answer questions, and provide post-bid follow-up. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the estimating process. Utilize estimating software and tools effectively to streamline the estimation process. Visit customer sites to review and close bids as needed. Qualifications: 3+ years of previous experience in estimating, preferably within the construction, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems industry is preferred. Strong analytical and mathematical skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and estimating software Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents Strong negotiation and vendor management skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team Reliable transportation Punctuality and readiness to work Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening HVAC, Plumbing, and Piping experience (a plus) Physical Demands/Working Conditions: This position may require occasional lifting or carrying 20 to 50 pounds. The role primarily involves sitting for extended periods while performing office-based tasks, but it may also include visits to job sites or client meetings. Employees must be able to use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls and sit, talk, hear, and stand as required throughout the workday.
