Salary: $17.88 - $19.97 Hourly Location : Appleton, WI Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 2026-29 Department: Parks and Recreation Division: Facilities - Seasonal Grounds Workers Opening Date: 01/19/2026 Closing Date: 6/5/2026 11:59 PM Central Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Safely operates equipment such as trucks with trailers, riding mowers, gang mowers, golf course turf equipment, tractors, loaders, skid steers, push mowers, string trimmers, etc. Lift objects above shoulder height up to 50 pounds. Performs facilities maintenance such as cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, scraping, painting and sanding. Performs vandalism removal on buildings, play equipment, and other areas. Performs grounds maintenance such as trash and litter pickup. Replace trash and recycling can liners. Planting/flower bed maintenance, weeding etc. Performs playground surface replacement and upkeep. Performs athletic field maintenance and operation of associated equipment. (Line Painters, Infield Groomers, etc.) OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Assists full-time staff with various projects. Typical QualificationsAbility to operate powered riding mowers, push mowers, string trimmers, skid steers, tractors, loaders, and pick-up trucks hauling trailers. Ability to withstand a variety of temperature and weather extremes. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and supervisors. Be able to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner. Must provide own steel toed shoes. Must possess a valid drivers license. Must be at least sixteen years of age. Ability to work irregular schedules based on project demand and weather. Supplemental Information EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: Mid April - November WORK SCHEDULE: Hours per day: Flexible hours between 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Occasional weekends and holidays Days per week: Varied Hours per week: Up to 40 Pay Grade: 4 This position is a non-benefited position with the City of Appleton.
