Position Summary: The Billing Coordinator is responsible for timely submission of professional and technical medical claims to hospital and or patient insurance through our billing company. Position Schedule: Remote Day Shift Essential Duties: Audit and review charges to ensure the accuracy of billing information. Provide charge entry for outside reference lab billing which additionally includes reconciliation with the client invoice and working closely with Accounts Payable. Provide support of obtaining prior authorization as required per insurance payer on molecular pathology tests Following up on prior authorizations which can include working with ordering physician on documentation of medical necessity, researching and assistance in appealing denied claims. Provide support with phone calls and or emails on client inquiries of patient billing issues or pricing inquiries. Adding billing service codes to Pathology software Audit and review key data elements entered into Lab Information System in order to ensure accurate data transfer to outsourced billing company. Complete reconciliations of various billing data as assigned. Interact with outsourced billing company to assist in obtaining missing information, addressing issues that arise and continually reviewing policies and procedures for process improvement. Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of business and accounting processes usually obtained from associate degree, with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Healthcare Administration Familiar with CPT and ICD10 coding Excellent keyboard, MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint experience. Outstanding interpersonal skills; must have good judgment and be able to maintain confidential information. Diplomatic and polite with pathologists and staff. Organization skills and detail focused with the ability to maintain records thoroughly and completely. Self-starter for pursuing complex paper flow and approval processes to completion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Qualifications/Experience: A minimum of two to three years' experience in a medical billing office setting. Bachelor's degree preferred. (or AA degree with sufficient work experience to demonstrate competence) Excellent keyboard, MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint experience. Outstanding interpersonal skills; must have good judgment and be able to maintain confidential information. Diplomatic and polite with pathologists and staff. Detail focused and able to maintain records and thoroughly and completely. Self-starter for pursuing complex paper flow and approval processes to completion.
