Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) AAC Focused Location: Phoenix, AZ Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite | School-Based Schedule: MondayFriday, 7:30 AM3:30 PM (School Calendar: AugustMay) Position Overview: We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with a strong interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to support students with developmental disabilities in an integrated, school-based environment. This role emphasizes functional, real-world communication rather than traditional pull-out therapy. Communication support is embedded throughout the student day, including classrooms, vocational programming, outdoor learning, adapted physical education, and recreational activities. The SLP will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team committed to clinician autonomy, creativity, and long-term professional growth. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct speech and language therapy through classroom push-ins, small group, and whole-group sessions Model, program, and support AAC device use across all school environments Integrate functional communication skills into daily routines from arrival through dismissal Conduct speech and language evaluations and prepare written reports Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration Perform annual swallowing and hearing screenings Maintain and manage augmentative communication devices Document student progress and complete Medicaid billing requirements Collaborate with families, teachers, and clinical team members to support individualized goals Student Population: K12+ students with developmental disabilities Medically fragile students and non-verbal communicators High AAC utilization across school and clinical settings Why This Role Stands Out: Strong onsite collaboration with SLPs, OTs, PTs, educators, and ABA teams Clinician autonomy in schedule and caseload design to support work-life balance Low staff turnover with a supportive mentoring culture Clear pathways for internal advancement and leadership development School-year schedule with structured breaks Schedule & Time Off: MondayFriday, 7:30 AM3:30 PM School-year schedule (AugustMay) Week off for Thanksgiving Winter break (Christmas through New Year's) Optional summer programming available for senior clinicians Required Qualifications: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Valid Arizona Department of Education SLP Certificate Valid Arizona Department of Health Services SLP License Active NPI number Ability to obtain AHCCCS ID for Medicaid billing Fingerprint clearance and background check Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan Paid PTO and sick time 13 paid holidays annually Paid licensure and certification renewals Mileage reimbursement Paid conferences and professional development opportunities If you are an SLP who values functional, inclusive communication embedded into everyday learning, we encourage you to apply and start a conversation.
