Position: Principal - 1.0 FTE Location: Dexter High School Posting Date: February 5, 2026 Posting Deadline: March 3, 2026 Beginning Date: July 1, 2026 Qualifications: Must have a Master's Degree in Educational Administration or related educational field Meet state requirements for Secondary Principal certification Must be a certified teacher with a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate Must have knowledge/experience of secondary curriculum and effective instructional practices Must have prior building or district administrative experience Performance Responsibilities: Promotes and participates in teacher learning and development Ensure staff awareness of the most current theories and practices, making these discussions a regular aspect of school culture Works as a member of a district leadership team Communicates and operates from strong ideals and beliefs about schooling Is directly involved in the design and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices Establishes a set of operating procedures and routines Ensures an orderly and supportive environment Protects teachers from issues and influences that would detract from their teaching time or focus Is aware of details and undercurrents in the running of the school and uses this information to mitigate current and potential problems Sets a vision and strategy to address underlying problems Strategic resource allocation Uses data to monitor the effectiveness of school practices and inform strategy Is willing to challenge and actively challenge the status quo Provides materials and professional development that targets underlying school needs Establishes clear goals and keeps goals in the forefront of the school's attention Sets strategic mission and goals Skills and Abilities: Inspires others Leads with integrity Values positive relationships with staff, students, and families in a community school district Has a strong ability to problem solve Perseverance to accomplish strategic goals Demonstrate exceptional communication skills that will support school and district goals and fosters positive relationships throughout the school community.
