Travel RN Job Details Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU / Cardiovascular Progressive Care (Stepdown) Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (On-Site) – North Carolina travel nursing Start Date: 02/16/2026 End Date: 05/18/2026 Duration: 13-week travel contract Schedule: 36 hours/week Shift: Days – 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun, day or night) per 6-week schedule period On-Call: None Floating: May float to stepdown (1:5), med-surg (1:6–7), and ER inpatient holding area (1:6) as needed Patient Ratio (typical): 1:5 EMR: Cerner Dress Code: All navy; or white top/navy bottoms; or all white Openings: 1 Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements – PCU / Stepdown Required: Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience Required: Telemetry experience (continuous monitoring and rhythm recognition) Certifications: Active BLS and ACLS Preferred: Recent (within the last year) cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patient population experience (e.g., CABG, valve procedures, TAVR, lobectomy/thoracic cases, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) Preferred: CVICU experience Soft Skills: Team-oriented, flexible, and comfortable in a high-acuity, fast-paced unit Key Responsibilities – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (PCU) Provide high-quality PCU/stepdown nursing care for cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients and overflow cardiology patients (e.g., heart failure, chest pain, sepsis, DKA, heart block) Perform comprehensive assessments, continuous telemetry monitoring , and timely escalation of changes in patient condition Manage post-operative care needs including chest tube management, epidural management, tube feedings, and IV insulin protocols (e.g., Glucommander) as applicable Administer and manage cardiac infusions per protocol (as applicable), including medications such as phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, diltiazem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, and nitroglycerin Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support safe, efficient care transitions and patient/family education Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner EMR and follow unit policies, safety standards, and best practices Apply now to join a dynamic cardiovascular stepdown and progressive care team and grow your travel nursing career in Asheville, NC 28801 .
