The ability to learn the technical terminology and to be able to read documents and blueprints with a somewhat educated eye allows potential errors to be corrected. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Technician I will run the following tests on regular basis with moderate supervision. The Technician I will also complete test forms and enter data as required. Nuclear Gauge compaction testing of soil and rock Drive cylinder compaction testing Moisture content determination Basic Concrete sampling and testing Minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent. Experience in a related field preferred but not necessary. Must have reliable transportation. Must be available for overtime as needed. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Requires a basic logical understanding of computers, general hardware and software. Requires logical approach to problem solving. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Must enjoy working outside.
