Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient PRN Pharmacy technicians work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in preparing medications to dispense to patients. To do this, pharmacy technicians need to demonstrate proper pharmaceutical techniques and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients as well as the pharmacist. Pharmacy technicians need to learn medication names, actions, uses, and doses. They need to have a working knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, data entry and recordkeeping, and pharmacy law and ethics. This is a PRN position. A caregiver in this role will work 3-hr shifts per a 6 week schedule. Coverages for PTO, call offs and weekends will be required. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems. Fill medication carts daily. Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the pharmacy. Repackage bulk medications. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA) Registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program Six months of hospital experience Physical Requirements: Typical physical demands include ability to perform functions of the job while reaching and stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
