Job Description

The Admissions clerk interfaces with visitors, patients, family, and physicians on phone and in person for patient admission to Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Outpatient Center.  Duties and responsibilities include: Performs clerical duties involved with admission of patients, keeping delays to a minimumEnsures identification, insurance and all Admissions paperwork is scanned into the PAS systemDirects patient to appropriate area upon arrivalEnsures patient is registered and marked properly in the PAS systemUnderstands how to add a walk-in or direct admit into the PAS systemPrepares charts/packets as assignedExpedites patient complaints and concerns promptly to correct departmentAnswers incoming calls, responding correctly or transferring as neededAssists with distribution of mail and messagesResponds promptly when code is alertedLogs payments, maintains daily and balance cash drawerCompletes End of Shift dutiesOther duties as assigned Schedule would be Monday - Friday, afternoons from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.  Position is benefits-eligible.Required SkillsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Basic computer skillsGood communication and people skills.Basic office skillsExcellent telephone skills - ability to screen incoming calls, adequately respond to telephone inquiries.Ability to maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive, privileged communications and work product.Ability to utilize Electronic Heath Care Record system for documentation to patients account/record Required ExperienceEDUCATION                                                                                                                  High School Diploma or equivalent LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION                                                                                           BLS required, can be obtained after hire. SPECIFIC JOB EXPERIENCE Minimum 1 year customer service experience, previous medical office experience helpful Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Basic computer skillsGood communication and people skills.Basic office skillsExcellent telephone skills - ability to screen incoming calls, adequately respond to telephone inquiries.Ability to maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive, privileged communications and work product.Ability to utilize Electronic Heath Care Record system for documentation to patients account/record
