Purchasing Manager

Purchasing Manager Crestwood/Oak Lawn, IL We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations for a high-volume food production facility in the Crestwood / Oak Lawn area. This role is responsible for sourcing raw materials and packaging, managing supplier relationships, controlling inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that partners closely with Production, Quality, Logistics, and Finance to support efficient, uninterrupted operations. What Youll Do Manage purchasing of ingredients, raw materials, packaging, and supplies Forecast material needs based on production schedules and demand Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers Build and maintain strong supplier relationships Ensure all materials meet food safety, regulatory, and quality standards Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and excess Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency improvements Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production goals Maintain accurate purchasing records and reporting using ERP systems What Were Looking For 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a food manufacturing or production environment (required) Strong negotiation and supplier management skills Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality systems Experience with ERP systems and purchasing software Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred Work Environment & Schedule Full-time, on-site role Minimum 50 hours per week Combination of office and warehouse environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work around production and warehouse operations Why This Role High-impact position supporting core production operations Opportunity to influence cost control, supplier strategy, and inventory efficiency Stable, long-term role within a food production environment
