College Intern - Procurement The Metropolitan District is a non-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929 to provide potable water and sewerage services on a regional basis. Today, the MDC provides quality water supply, water pollution control, mapping, and household hazardous waste collection to eight member municipalities - Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor - and to portions of other towns in the region. The Procurement Department is looking to hire a full-time (37.5 hours/week) college intern for the MDC's summer internship program. The Intern will report to the company's Procurement Department in Hartford. The program will begin on June 1, 2026, and end on July 31, 2026 The MDC seeks to enhance the diversity of its workforce. EOE/AA/M/F/D/V Duties Assist Contract Specialists in support of competitive procurements including: development of specifications and statements of work; issuance of bid packages; possible attendance at Pre-Bid Meetings and Bid Openings; development of evaluation criteria matrices and assistance to proposal evaluation panels; and compilation of contract documents in support of contract execution. Support Contract Specialist with creating bid comparison spreadsheets and other bid evaluation tasks. Review monthly certified contract payrolls for compliance in support of monthly progress payments. Prepare construction project files for audit by Federal Agencies. Support Summer Procurement department projects including: (1) File reorganization and (2) Document Retention and Disposal. Conduct internal Purchase Card transaction audits for micro purchases made throughout the District. Review contract expiration dates and support the coordination of change orders and existing contract modifications necessary to exercise contract option years. Qualifications College student pursuing a B.A., B.S. or Associate's degree, with a preference for students pursuing Marketing or Business Administration degrees. Computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
