Sheet Metal Inspection Technician Our client in Roseville, MI is seeking a dependable and hard-working Sheet Metal Inspection Technician to join their team. You will support prototype and production operations in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment serving the Automotive, Aerospace, and Defense industries. This role is responsible for performing precision inspections of sheet metal components, completing part buy-offs, and utilizing advanced 3D scanning technology to ensure conformance with engineering requirements. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, proficient in GD&T, and experienced with formed and fabricated sheet metal parts. Key Responsibilities Inspect sheet metal parts and assemblies to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Perform part buy-off inspections for internal release and customer acceptance. Operate and maintain blue light 3D scanning equipment, such as the Keyence VL-700, to conduct high-accuracy dimensional inspections. Analyze scanned inspection data and compare results to 3D CAD models using inspection software. Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to evaluate and document critical dimensions and tolerances. Accurately document inspection results and generate detailed inspection and quality reports. Communicate inspection findings and quality concerns with production, engineering, and management teams. Assist with maintaining inspection equipment and ensuring calibration requirements are met. Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to overall quality objectives within the sheet metal department. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of inspection experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency in GD&T and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings. Hands-on experience with Keyence VL-700 or similar blue light 3D scanning equipment. Knowledge of inspection and measurement techniques for bent, formed, welded, and fabricated sheet metal parts. Proficiency with standard measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience using Keyence or other dimensional analysis and inspection software. Working knowledge of CAD file formats such as STEP and IGES, with basic CAD navigation skills. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
