Job Description: Psychiatrist Central State Hospital Job Description: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provides psychiatric in-patient, on site, clinical services to adults, including evaluation, follow-up, medication management, emergency/crisis intervention, telephone consultation, peer-to-peer calls with insurance and referrals, etc. Provides clinical consultation with unit Treatment Team. Attends and participates in staff meetings and hospital-wide committees. Completes progress notes, discharge summaries, etc. in a timely manner. Facilitates efforts to maintain Joint Commission accreditation by ensuring accurate documentation is completed. The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. EDUCATION M.D. or D.O., including completion of internship and psychiatric residency. Current unrestricted Kentucky medical license. Board certified or board eligible in adult psychiatry. Active, unrestricted DEA license. EXPERIENCE A minimum of six months in structured experiential learning (e.g., practicum or learning lab) in the field of psychiatry. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of available community services and programs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS Position has no unusual physical demands. May involve occasional exposure to threat of bodily harm from clients or their families. May require performing tasks on an unplanned or occasional basis that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue.
