About Our Job We are offering a hiring bonus of $5,000 to new employees hired from this recruitment. The details of the bonus will be discussed at interview and/or offer. Jewell Ave., Denver, CO 80231) 4 days per week - either Monday thru Thursday or Tuesday thru Friday - 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The Solid Waste Management team within the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is currently hiring three Tractor Trailer Operators. This team plays a vital role in keeping Denver clean and sustainable by providing essential services such as trash collection, hazardous waste removal, recycling, and composting for single-family homes and multi-family residences with up to seven units, as well as for municipal buildings and Denver Public Schools. In addition to these core services, the agency oversees the Graffiti Removal Program, which removes graffiti from private and commercial properties and public rights-of-way. It also leads the Keep Denver Beautiful campaign, which promotes community involvement and environmental stewardship throughout the city. Specifically, as a Tractor Trailer Operator, you will: Operate a tractor trailer, lowboy, box, or hauler to transport and haul materials, goods, equipment, and large and heavy construction and earthmoving equipment from one location to another, load and unload cargo, materials, and supplies, while operating the semi-tractor trailer within inter-city routes. Decide the equipment needs for each assigned project and ensure compliance with safety guidelines and standards. Do pre and post trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, per federal guidelines Observe on-board instruments and controls while operating equipment and take routine corrective action if malfunctions are indicated. Perform manual labor in the construction, maintenance, and repair of City infrastructure when not driving or operating equipment at the worksite. Assist in preventative maintenance on equipment by washing and servicing vehicles with water, oil, and fuel, performs basic maintenance, and make minor running repairs. Keep trip records and logs, report vehicle defects and operational issues, report accidents and traffic violations, which includes damage to the vehicle. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner and provides information within the area of assignment. Participate in snow removal duties and responsibilities. Provide training to less experienced employees. Perform other related duties as assigned. What You'll Bring Our ideal candidate will have prior experience operating a tractor trailer. Required Minimum Qualifications Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience operating equipment at the Semi-Tractor Trailer Operator level or three (3) years of experience operating medium sized, specialized equipment. Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirements. License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL "A") with appropriate endorsements at time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
