Job Description

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Otolaryngology, is seeking a Laryngology Nurse Practitioner. A Laryngology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice provider who specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of disorders of the larynx (voice box), throat, and upper airway. Working collaboratively with Laryngologists (ENT physicians), speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals, the NP provides comprehensive care to patients with voice, swallowing, airway, and related head and neck conditions across outpatient and procedural settings.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical CareConduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations focused on laryngeal and upper airway conditionsDiagnose and manage disorders such as:Dysphonia (voice disorders)Vocal fold nodules, polyps, and cystsLaryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)Chronic coughDysphagia (swallowing disorders)Airway stenosis and tracheostomy carePerform or assist with in-office procedures (e.g., flexible laryngoscopy, stroboscopy, injections, tracheostomy changes, minor procedures as credentialed)Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including imaging and laboratory testsDevelop and implement individualized treatment plansPrescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of practiceCollaboration & CoordinationCollaborate with otolaryngologists, speech-language pathologists, and multidisciplinary voice and swallowing teamsCoordinate referrals and continuity of careParticipate in pre-operative and post-operative patient managementPatient EducationEducate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive careProvide counseling regarding voice hygiene, reflux management, airway care, and post-surgical recoveryDocumentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate and timely medical recordsEnsure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policiesParticipate in quality improvement initiativesQualificationsEducation & CertificationMaster's or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner programBoard certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology NP (AGNP), or Acute Care NPActive state licensure as a Nurse PractitionerDEA registration (if applicable)Experience· Experience in primary care, hospital medicine, pulmonology, gastroenterology, or surgical services · Prior exposure to ENT or head and neck care (not required).Skills & CompetenciesAdvanced knowledge of laryngeal anatomy and voice/swallowing physiologyStrong clinical assessment and diagnostic skillsProficiency in performing and assisting with ENT proceduresExcellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skillsAbility to manage complex airway and voice-related conditionsCommitment to patient-centered, evidence-based careCompensation & BenefitsThe compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $110,000 - 150,000. This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans. More information on compensation is discussed with the departments during the recruitment process.
