AY2526 Tutor - Cross Roads Foundation (Work-Study Required) This position is off campus and will be paid at $15/hour. Locations: South Side, Oakland, Mt.Lebanon, Coraopolis, McKeesport, Carnegie (Special tutoring emphasis onCentral/Oakland Catholic in Oakland Area) Tentative Member Schedule: Preferably Monday-Thursday, 2:00pm-4:00pm withoccasional evenings & weekends for special projects and events. Requirements and Screenings: Qualifications & Skills: Qualifications and skills: Abilityto communicate effectively with adolescents, adults, and members of thecommunity. We are looking for candidates that have a confident and engagingpersonality. Our ideal candidate will beflexible with a growth mindset. Additionally, we would like a candidate with strong organizationalskills and academic proficiency in upper-level math and science. Experience interacting with adolescents in astructured environment is a plus. Prior experience in tutoring ispreferred. Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite,Google Drive, Google Meet/Zoom. Academic skills: Applicants should bestrong in HS math and science including but not limited to algebra 1&2,calculus, physics, anatomy/physiology, chemistry, biology, etc. Additional Screenings: PA Child Abuse History Clearances and Criminal Background Check persuant to Act 153. Service Description & Compensation: Daily activities and responsibilities: Members will work closely with our counselors to provide tutoring and academic support to scholars in our host school. Members will typically work one-on-one or in small groups after school in a homework help setting or online. Through tutoring and regular interactions with students, our members will also be able to serve as mentors for our scholars. About Cross Roads Foundation: Crossroads offers students with limited financial resources access to a quality high school education and the support they need to be college ready. In addition to financial scholarships, Crossroads provides academic assistance, social and personal support as well as college and career preparation so that its scholars are well prepared for success in college and in their careers. In addition to 700 alumni, Crossroads currently supports 165 students, grades 9-12, who attend six different Pittsburgh area Catholic high schools. Because of our network of support, 100% of Crossroads scholars, the majority of whom are students of color who will be the first in their family to earn a bachelor's degree, graduate from high school on time, and 96% of them go on to college the fall after their senior year. Of these, 72% have completed or are on track to complete their college degree within six years.
