Salary: $19.18 - $25.50 Hourly Location : City of Gulf Shores, AL Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 202400095 Department: Fire-Beach Opening Date: 01/07/2026 Closing Date: Continuous Description Under general supervision, performs technical tasks to insure the safety of all beach patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, monitoring swimming and beach activities, enforcing water safety rules and regulations, and performing maintenance in compliance with policies and procedures. Starting pay is $22.33 an hour. Essential Job Functions Performs technical tasks to insure the safety of all beach patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, monitoring swimming and beach activities, recognizes and responds to emergency situations; enforcing water safety rules and regulations, and performing maintenance in compliance with policies and procedures. Completes various safety inspection tasks; insures safety equipment is in good working order; maintains first aid station for cleanliness; insures first aid station is stocked with appropriate supplies. Completes related administrative tasks for the department; completes logs, accident and incident reports, work order request forms, and related documents; reviews and updates EAPs, pool procedures inventory records, and related records. Patrols beach to insure the safety of all beach patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, monitoring beach activities and enforcing water safety rules and regulations. Responds to emergency situations. Patrols beach to ensure City ordinances are being adhered to and monitors the cleanliness of the beach. Minimum Qualifications RequiredEducation and Experience: High School Education or equivalent is desirable; and No experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Licenses and Certifications (depending upon assignment): Necessary- ARC Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid Additional Position InformationIMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS: May drive passenger van for the City.
