Title: Mechanical Technician III Pay Rate Range: $28.00/hr. - $30.00/hr. (DOE) Employment Type: Contract - 12 months Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; overtime and periodic off-hours coverage may be required) Location: Newton, NC - COC Trivium (100% Onsite; may support Hickory, NC plant) Job Posting ID: CRNGJP00029088 Job Overview Tekberry is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician III for our client, a global leader in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies to support capacity expansion projects and multi-line equipment installations at a high-volume manufacturing facility in Newton, NC. This hands-on role supports engineering projects focused on capacity additions, equipment installations, and mechanical line debug. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience with new equipment start-ups, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities Installation & Capacity Expansion Support Lead and/or participate in manufacturing engineering projects supporting capacity additions and equipment installations. Manage mechanical installation and debug activities to meet project milestones and timeline objectives. Support preparation of equipment and associated components for Operations Receivership. Align, test, and calibrate mechanical systems after installation. Mechanical Troubleshooting & Process Improvement Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical systems (pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gear systems, etc.). Diagnose complex mechanical failures and recommend effective corrective actions. Design and implement mechanical solutions and process changes to improve equipment capability and performance. Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety. Conduct basic data analysis to support root cause identification and process improvements. Engineering & Documentation Support Develop and update engineering and operational documentation. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to support troubleshooting and repair. Manage spare part identification and CMMS entries across the two-plant footprint. Support training of operations personnel regarding equipment updates or process changes. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Vendor Support Work alongside vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues while protecting scope, schedule, and cost. Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and maintenance. Support development and execution of project plans to ensure timely, error-free mechanical support. Safety & Compliance Maintain safe work practices and proactively identify hazardous conditions. Ensure all activities comply with plant safety standards and industrial best practices. Maintain a clean, organized work environment. Education & Experience (Required) Associate degree required. Minimum 3+ years of experience in new equipment installations within a manufacturing environment. Start-up and commissioning experience preferred. Experience working in fast-paced environments with multiple competing priorities. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong mechanical fundamentals and hands-on technical skills. Expertise in mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, bearings, and gear systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Experience troubleshooting and resolving mechanical process issues. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and CMMS usage. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities. Knowledge of industrial safety regulations and practices. Ability to multitask and prioritize independently in a project-driven environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with commercial manufacturing equipment. Project leadership or milestone management experience. Experience managing or coordinating vendor/supplier activities. Experience with CAD software. Relevant mechanical or industrial certifications (Millwright, HVAC, Welding). OSHA or other industrial safety certifications. Soft Skills Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills. Ability to shift priorities quickly and adapt to changing project demands. Detail-oriented with ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to allocate or supervise resources to meet aggressive timelines and cost targets. Travel Requirements Travel between Newton, NC and Hickory, NC facilities may be required. Work Environment 100% onsite manufacturing environment. Combination of on-floor mechanical support and documentation coordination. Standard 40-hour workweek; overtime and extended hours may be required based on project schedules.
