Position: Assistant Professor of Studio ArtDepartment: College of Arts & SciencesStatus: Full TimePosition Summary: The Studio Art program serves as the foundational component for degrees in Studio Art, Graphic Design and Studio Art with Teacher Licensure degree within the Art Department. The Assistant Professor of Studio Art provides instruction and support across a range of studio and academic disciplines, which may include Sculpture, Ceramics, Three-Dimensional Design, Exhibition, and Art History. This role is also responsible for organizing and maintaining Studio Art classrooms and workspace areas, ensuring adherence to safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Teach three-dimensional Studio Art courses, including Sculpture, Ceramics, and Three-Dimensional Design. Instruct courses in Exhibition Preparation/Presentation and possibly Art History Plan, organize, and manage exhibitions in Sauls Gallery and the Wiggins Memorial Library Gallery. Maintain and oversee the organization of all Studio Art classroom and workspace areas. Collaborate with and provide support to Department faculty. Work with art faculty to establish and support goals for each art area. Advocate to the Chair of Fine Arts regarding studio art needs, resources, and planning. Partner with art faculty to coordinate departmental goals, events, and recruitment initiatives. Provide guidance and support to students across all studio art areas. Review, repair, and maintain studio art equipment to ensure safety and functionality. Develop and implement a recruitment plan for the Studio Art program. Follow and enforce safety protocols for kilns, pottery wheels, tools, and all equipment used in ceramic and sculptural processes. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Uphold all Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, FERPA, Information Security standards, and other state or federal requirements. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as organizational needs evolve. Education/Experience: Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) required; Master of Fine Arts (MFA) required. Demonstrated experience teaching at the undergraduate level. A minimum of one year of instructional experience in Three-Dimensional Art and Exhibition. Experience working in higher education or within the non-profit sector is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups through both oral and written channels. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills. Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technologies. Familiarity with Blackboard or similar learning management systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and standard digital communication platforms (web, text, and chat-based tools). Familiarity with using and/or administering social media platforms. Demonstrated tact, courtesy, professionalism, and discretion when interacting with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team and among diverse groups of people. Sound judgment and the ability to respond effectively in complex, unfamiliar, or stressful situations. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet established deadlines. Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work in a dynamic environment. Ability to assist with studio or gallery exhibit setup, including occasional evening or weekend hours.
