If you want to learn more about Concordia University, Nebraska, please visit Position Purpose Under the direction of the Associate Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer provides care for student-athletes participating in the University's athletic programs. Must be at least 19 years of age to apply. Responsibilities Responsible for injury prevention, diagnosis, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of muscle and bone injuries and illnesses of student-athletes. Ability to recognize, evaluate and assess injuries and provide for immediate care when needed. Responsible for educating student-athletes in injury prevention by advising them in proper use of equipment, exercises to improve balance and strength, home exercises and therapy programs. Applies protective or injury-prevention devices such as tape, bandages and braces as necessary. Meets regularly with licensed team physician regarding specific injuries, injury evaluations and treatment options for student-athletes. Assists with camp coverage during the summer months. Assists the Head Athletic Trainer with administrative duties as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in related field; master's degree preferred. Experience Two years of experience in athletic training setting. Preceptorship experience preferred but not required. Certifications NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer Nebraska State Licensure or eligible CPR and AED for Professional Rescuer Certification or higher Specialized Knowledge Knowledge of information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries including symptoms, treatment alternatives, injury prevention measures and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Special Position Requirements Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Strong interpersonal skills. Travel to sporting events, including nights and weekends, interior and exterior work environments.
