To learn more about the agency, please visit our website at: For frequently asked questions, please click here: Req Number FIN-26-00001 Location CAS - Central Administrative Services (Trenton) Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Number of Openings 1 Category Finance / Accounting DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Controller will have responsibility for financial oversight over reporting, analysis, and management of the accounting function. This responsibility includes maintaining the records, generating the reports, supervising the staff, and working with management and program staff to insure that necessary information is maintained and provided. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervising the Accounting staff, including hiring, training, directing, evaluating and addressing staff's problems and concerns. Maintains the books and records of Catholic Charities and its related HUD-funded entities, so that accurate and timely monthly and annual financial reports can be generated. Oversees the annual audit and 990 process, with support from accounting staff. Supports the annual budget preparation process. Supports and participates in addressing the evolving requirements of our funders, specifically fee-for-service and cost-based contracting, CCBHC, and other new services. Assists in developing internal analysis to allow Catholic Charities to remain fiscally strong while supporting these changing funding systems. Keeping up-to-date with changing not-for-profit industry requirements, including GAAP and FASB standards. Consults and communications with the Leadership Team, management, and program staff to obtain and share required information. Attends fiscal supervisory meeting with CFO and Budget & Fiscal Operations Officer. Also attends Finance, Investment and Audit Committee meetings and quarterly management meetings. Responsible for Federal grant financial compliance, reporting and drawdowns. Oversees Financial analysis and revenue cycle management functions. Drive the advancement of the fiscal department by leveraging technology and AI to optimize financial processes, enhance data accuracy, and support strategic decision-making. OTHER DUTIES: As assigned by the Associate Executive Director, Fiscal Affairs KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (Competencies) Analytical Ability Proficiency in relevant systems Financial Management Data Analysis Supervisory Information Technologies SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: The Controller supervises fiscal department staff. Position Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field strongly preferred Significant nonprofit financial management experience required CPA or MBA preferred 5-7+ years of progressive nonprofit financial management experience, including: Grant accounting and financial reporting Audit preparation (annual audit, Single audit a plus) Supervisory experience (minimum 3 years) Strong Understanding of Nonprofit GAAP, fund accounting, and federal grant compliance LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED: None. Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt Weekly Work Hours 35 hrs Proposed Salary $110K - $120K/annually Schedule Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 4:30PM This position is currently accepting applications.
