The Network Administrator II is responsible for the design, implementation, and high-level support of the institution's core network infrastructure. This role focuses on the security, integrity, and availability of enterprise-grade routing, switching, wireless, and firewall systems. The ideal candidate will provide expert-level administration for a large-scale network, ensuring robust connectivity through advanced routing protocols and stringent security best practices. Core Infrastructure: Provide day-to-day operational support, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise-grade routers and switches in a large-scale environment. Routing & Protocols: Manage and optimize Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including advanced configuration of EBGP, IBGP, OSPF, and static routing. Security & Firewalls: Lead the administration of Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), including rule creation, log analysis, and the implementation of VPN (Site-to-Site and Remote Access) solutions. Network Security: Implement and maintain security best practices to protect the core network from internal and external threats, ensuring compliance with institutional policies. Voice & Wireless: Collaborate on the design and maintenance of VoIP systems and high-density wireless communications infrastructure. Continuity: Manage network backup configurations, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability (HA) failover testing. Documentation: Maintain high-fidelity network diagrams (Visio/Lucid), IP address management (IPAM), and comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs). Vendor Management: Meet with vendors and contractors to vet hardware and software, ensuring all new equipment meets the scale and performance requirements of the institution. Leadership Support: Assist the Network Communications Manager in prioritizing projects and developing long-term infrastructure strategies for the Florida Tech community. Education and Experience: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent professional certifications (CCNA, CCNP, ACMP, Network+, Security+, or similar) and work experience. Routing/Switching: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience managing BGP and OSPF in a multi-homed or enterprise environment. Wireless Administration: Proven experience managing a medium to large-scale wireless system, with specific proficiency in Aruba AOS and/or Aruba Central. Firewall Expertise: Demonstrated experience in Firewall administration, including policy management and secure VPN tunneling. Scalability: Experience working with large-scale networks (e.g., campus-wide environments, multi-site organizations, or data centers). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Technical Mastery: Strong foundational knowledge of the OSI model, TCP/IP, VLANs, VXLAN/EVPN, Spanning Tree (STP), and Link Aggregation (LACP). VPN Administration: Proficiency in managing IPsec and SSL VPNs for secure remote connectivity. Analytical Thinking: Superior troubleshooting skills with the ability to use packet captures (Wireshark) and netflow data to diagnose complex issues. Professionalism: Ability to interact effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization. Adaptability: A reliable and methodical approach to managing complex, high-uptime systems under pressure.
