Position Title: Maintenance Tech I Department: Maintenance Reports to: Maintenance ManagerFLSA Status: (Non-Exempt) Position Purpose: To support efforts and task of maintenance department by providing skills and abilities to assist with, contribute to and complete repairs, installation and to maintain optimum performance of equipment on all shifts. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and equipment in various settings, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. To assist and maintain with repairs to not only all plant equipment, but also with the physical structure, electrical, plumbing and all operating systems in a commercial or industrial manufacturing facility. Primary Functions: Listing is not all-inclusive but a basic overview of tasks. Other duties and tasks may be assigned as needed by Maintenance Tech II (Lead), Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager: Installation and repair: Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, machinery, and control systems. This includes working on wiring, circuit breakers and lighting fixtures. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including power outages and equipment malfunctions, using various testing devices. Must be capable of troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, steam or ammonia refrigeration problems and completing the necessary repairs needed independently or working with other maintenance techs using hand tools to replace, repair or install required parts or components of the equipment, following all safety guidelines and quality GMP's. Will communicate clearly, thoroughly, consistently and professionally with maintenance team members throughout the shift and at the end of shift to review, re-cap of issues, concerns, completed work and make aware to all, of any additional needed actions or repairs. Will communicate clearly to other team associates to include production, quality, environmental, administrative or management and provide situational updates and re-cap of issues, concerns, repairs and needs. Will visually inspect and test machinery and equipment on each shift and documents findings on roundsman sheets. Will listen, look and smell for unusual sounds, noises, conditions, odors and atmospheric conditions from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with lead, supervisor, manager or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine. Dismantle defective machines and equipment and will install necessary parts in a timely manner to make the repair safely and return equipment to production team. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery to optimize performance. Assist other Maintenance Techs, Lead, Supervisor or Manager with ammonia, electrical, water, hydraulic or steam system repairs or with repairs to the physical structure of the buildings on site. Documents parts and inventory items used when making repairs and provides necessary paperwork to Maintenance Lead, Supervisor, Manager or Maintenance Clerk for requisition and replacement of items, tools, parts and inventoried maintenance items. Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Will set up and operate machine tools such as grinders and drills to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures and tools. Responsible for maintaining organization of parts and inventory in parts room and maintenance shop area. Capable of sharpening grinder plates, contherm blades and assembling grinder knife sets. Working Environment:Hot, humid environment at times, as well as cold, frigid and wet conditions for up to 12-hour shift. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis, including lifting at shoulder level or higher. Lift and carry up to 100 lbs. on an infrequent basis, including lifting at shoulder level or above.
