Electrical Engineering Department ManagerLocation: Greenville, SC (or Granite Falls, MN)Employment Type: Full-Time | Immediate NeedWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Department Manager to lead a growing electrical engineering team and drive technical excellence, project delivery, and strategic business growth. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a seasoned engineer who thrives in a consulting environment, enjoys mentoring teams, and excels in delivering innovative solutions for industrial and process-driven clients.About the OpportunityYou will lead and manage a developing team (initially 2-3 engineers/designers, with plans for department expansion), serve as a technical authority, and play a key role in both project execution and client engagement. This role offers the chance to shape department culture, refine engineering processes, and contribute directly to business development in a company known for its client-first, employee-owner environment.Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and grow an electrical engineering team to ensure high-quality project delivery.Serve as a subject-matter expert for industrial electrical engineering across diverse project types.Oversee electrical design requirements from conceptual development through construction, including: Control schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line drawings, and motor diagrams.Power/conduit plans, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.Specifications for 15 kV, 4160 V, 480 V systems, substations, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and switchgear.Lighting and grounding systems.Process control loop sheets, cable tray routing, proposals, and cost estimates.Short Circuit and Arc Flash analysis. Manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate closely with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and electrical codes/standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC).Support field assessments, site visits, and construction-phase services.Cultivate client relationships and contribute to business development and proposal efforts.Champion continuous improvement initiatives, standardization, and best practices across the department.Assist with recruitment, development, and retention of top engineering talent.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.15+ years of progressive experience in industrial electrical design.5+ years of leadership and/or project management experience.Active Professional Engineer (PE) License.Proven experience leading engineering teams, mentoring staff, and managing client relationships.Background in power, energy, biofuels, oil & gas, pulp & paper, or related process industries.Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and client presentation.Solid project management capabilities including budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling.Entrepreneurial mindset with a client-first, growth-oriented approach. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in ETAP, AutoCAD, NavisWorks (BIM 360).Experience with MEP projects is also acceptable, especially with industrial crossover.
