What You'll DoHVAC System Installation & RepairInstall new HVAC systems, units, and equipment according to specifications and building codes Repair and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems including rooftop units, air handlers, chillers, and boilers Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures in HVAC equipment and determine root causes Replace defective components including compressors, motors, fans, belts, bearings, and controls Perform brazed repairs and refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging procedures Install and repair ductwork, dampers, and air distribution systems Service and maintain pneumatic and electronic control systems Upgrade existing HVAC systems to improve efficiency and performance Preventive Maintenance ProgramExecute scheduled preventive maintenance on all HVAC equipment plant-wide Inspect systems regularly to identify potential failures before they occur Change filters, lubricate components, check refrigerant levels, and clean coils and condensers Monitor system performance and make adjustments to optimize efficiency Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) Test safety controls and ensure all systems operate within manufacturer specifications Calibrate thermostats, sensors, and control devices Electrical & ControlsTroubleshoot and repair electrical components of HVAC systems including motors, contactors, relays, and starters Work with power distribution systems (120V-480V) to diagnose electrical failures Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control sequences Troubleshoot building automation systems (BAS) and digital control systems Install and program thermostats, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and control panels Ensure proper electrical connections and grounding for safety and code compliance Refrigeration ServicesService refrigeration systems including walk-in coolers, freezers, and process cooling equipment Handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations using proper recovery and recycling procedures Maintain current Freon/refrigerant license and stay updated on refrigerant regulations Detect and repair refrigerant leaks using appropriate testing equipment Maintain proper superheat and subcooling levels for optimal system performance Equipment Assessment & PlanningIdentify equipment requiring repair or replacement and communicate needs to management Provide recommendations for system upgrades and energy efficiency improvements Estimate materials, parts, and time required to complete repair projects Order parts and maintain inventory of commonly used HVAC components Ensure adequate materials and supplies are available to complete jobs in a timely manner Evaluate equipment warranties and coordinate warranty repairs with vendors Safety & ComplianceFollow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures Use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment in a safe manner Maintain proper lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment Handle refrigerants according to EPA Section 608 regulations Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for all tasks Conduct safety inspections and identify potential hazards Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes Maintain a clean and organized work environment What You NeedRequired QualificationsFreon/Refrigerant License Required (EPA Section 608 Universal certification) 3-5 years of HVAC experience in commercial or industrial settings Strong electro-mechanical skills with proven troubleshooting ability Ability to properly use hand tools and test equipment in a safe manner Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, control systems, and electrical equipment Ability to determine cause of electrical failures in HVAC systems Valid driver's license required High school diploma or equivalent Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications3-5 years of industrial electrical experience State HVAC contractor license or journeyman certification Experience with building automation systems (BAS) such as Trane, Carrier, Johnson Controls, or Honeywell Boiler operator license Electrical journeyman or master electrician license Experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments Forklift and aerial lift certification OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification Who We Are At Ashley, we’re more than a business…we’re family.
