The HealingLodge treatment program integrates traditional, spiritual, and cultural valueswith chemical dependency and mental health counseling to create a holisticapproach toward healing. Residents include both Native American and non-Nativefrom all areas of the country. Aboutthe Position TheContract Nurse will administer scheduled morning and evening medications to theinpatient residents. The contract nurse will provide nursing assessments andtriage to appropriate level of care to meet medical needs. This positionmaintains medical records and other mandated documentation in accordance withstate regulations for a residential treatment facility. Thisschedule is: 2 weekends a month- Friday, Saturday, Sunday, (AM and PM med pass)and minimum of 5 mid-week evening med passes per month. On the weekend shiftsthat consists of both AM and PM med pass for the day. Evening med pass RN willcome in at 8 PM for evening med pass. Thisnurse will work closely with RN/Clinic Manager, medical provider and inpatientRN with coordination of inpatient care management for the patients enrolled inHL7N program. EssentialDuties and Responsibilities when working Inpatient shift include the following. • Administers scheduled medications to inpatient residents. • Supervises medication self-administration (when applicable) andchecks in with the residents. • Performs daily assessments of medical complaints, includingmaking appropriate referrals with communication to RN/Clinic Manager andMedical Provider. • Perform delegated independent nursing functions usingestablished policies, procedures, guidelines and standards as observed byRN/Clinic Manager or Medical Provider. • Provides nursing recommendations for resident discharge planningas indicated. • Educates residents and staff regarding medications, treatmentplan, and diagnostic tests. • Performs basic first aid procedures as needed. • Triages, and schedules patients to be seen at clinic asneeded. • Performs first aid procedures including dressings, medications,and suture removal. • Receives and transcribes new orders and updates medicationadministration records daily. • Obtains medications from pharmacy as necessary. • Routinely checks for expired medications and reorders ifnecessary. • Maintains medical records for review by Medical Director andState inspectors. • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens for courier pick up,and performs in house diagnostic tests as needed if they cannot be performed atthe clinic (i.e. pregnancy test, drug screen, glucose monitoring). • Routinely conducts inventory audits of medical supplies andmedical instruments and equipment and re-order or replace asneeded. • Routinely check refrigerator log and calibration. • Dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA/WISHA standards andHL7N policy. • Assist in ensuring medical department meets all licensing,contractual, and quality assurance standards/requirements. • Participates in overall facility and program quality improvementprocess and ensuring compliance within the program. SupervisoryResponsibilities: Thisposition as no direct supervisory responsibilities Educationand/or Experience: • Current State of Washington Nursing license either RN or LPNwith three years of experience • Ability to function within the framework of a multi-disciplinaryteam approach to treatment • Ability to handle stressful situations • Experience working with Native American adolescents preferred • Training and work experience in an adolescent residentialtreatment environment preferred Certificates,Licenses, or Registrations: • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) • Washington State Driver's License • AHA BLS/CPR ComputerSkills: Toperform this job successfully, an individual must have basic knowledge in MSOffice Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
