Job Description

Strategic Support Solutions is seeking a skilled Avionics Installer to lead the integration of advanced Garmin suites into corporate aircraft. This role focuses on the physical installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of systems like the G1000/G3000/G5000 and GTX/GTS series. You will be responsible for ensuring that every upgrade is flight-ready, compliant with FAA regulations, and aesthetically seamless. Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Installation: Perform full-stack installations of Garmin avionics suites, including mounting hardware, antenna placement, and interface wiring. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical "gremlins," including EMI interference, pitot-static leaks, and data bus communication errors (ARINC 429, RS-232, CAN bus). System Configuration: Upload software, configure LRUs (Line Replaceable Units), and perform ground-test checkouts using Garmin software loaders and specialized test equipment. Structural Integration: Perform minor sheet metal work for instrument panel modifications and antenna doublers as required by STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates). Compliance: Ensure all work meets FAA Part 145 or Part 43 standards and document all maintenance actions accurately in aircraft logs. Required QualificationsExperience: 2+ years of hands-on avionics installation experience specifically on corporate/business airframes (e.g., Cessna Citation, Beechcraft King Air, Embraer Phenom, or Pilatus). Garmin Expertise: Proven experience installing and configuring Garmin glass cockpit systems and remote sensors. Testing Proficiency: Experience using IFR/Aeroflex ramp test sets for Transponder (Mode S), Pitot-Static, and RVSM validation. Blueprints: Ability to read and follow complex STC installation manuals and airframe structural drawings. Physical & Technical RequirementsMust be comfortable working in confined spaces (tail cones, under floorboards, and behind instrument panels). High proficiency in pins-and-sockets, coax termination, and shielding techniques. A&P License is a major plus but not strictly required if you have extensive avionics-specific experience. Background ChecksThis position is covered under Federal Aviation Regulations in regard to unescorted access to Security Identification Display Areas. Applicants are subject to employment verification and, possibly, an FBI criminal history records check.
