Position Type: Student Support Services/School Counselor Date Posted: 1/5/2026 Location: Woodland / Birch Grove Elementary Closing Date: until filled District: Osseo Area Schools - ISD 279 Job Summary: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Design and deliver data-driven school counseling services aligned with the district mission and ASCA standards to support scholar success; implement the building College and Career, academics, social-emotional and counseling plan according to district program objectives and priorities; teach and coordinate the delivery of the curriculum; coordinate registration and orientation for scholars when needed; advocate for the individual scholar; participate in planning and teaching of career education; counsel scholars individually and in small groups about personal concerns; maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars; refer scholars and guardians/caregivers to appropriate specialists, special programs and/or community agencies; consult with teachers, staff, and guardians/caregivers regarding needs of individual scholars; participate in, coordinate, and/or conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school; make appropriate and equitable use of instructional resources and technologies; implement the goals and objectives of the district and the school and/or program for which employed; provide in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous learning and services when applicable. Willing to participate in district/building leadership activities. Ability to be flexible with work hours to meet the needs of guardians/caregivers, the district, building, and department at the discretion of the supervisor. Counselor Job Description-Final Responsibilities and tasks include: Provide services as a memeber of the guidance department staff as outlined in the District Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program for students in grades PreK - 5 and specifically to provide services to meet the special needs of his/her assigned case load; to consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students' educational, personal and social-emotional learning programs (Zones of Regulations, Restorative Justice/Circles, etc.), Implement anti-bullying programs (e.g. Second Step), support school wide behavior management, PBIS, and SEL programming; other duties assigned by principal. Minimum Qualifications include: Master's Degree in School Guidance and/or Counseling. Licensed by MDE in Elementary and/or K-12 Counseling. and/or authorizes the district to complete an Out of Field Permission request (OFP) request. Preferred Qualifications include: Possess good written and oral communication skills Possess strong planning and organizational skills Possess skills and knowledge related to group and individual counseling and referral resources Knowledge and use of SEL, PBIS, and Antibullying curriculum planning and strategies Adapt to ongoing changes and demonstrate flexibility with students, staff, and families Salary: View salary grid on Pages 51 - 52 of the teacher's contract Education Minnesota Osseo Job Type or FTE: 1.0 (Temporary through approximately April 15, 2026) This position has return rights pursuant to language in the Teacher Transfer Procedures, subd. 1.
