Salary : $102,948.00 - $131,400.00 Annually Location : Monroe, WA Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202600007 Department: Parks & Recreation Opening Date: 02/26/2026 Closing Date: 3/19/2026 11:59 PM Pacific Description Provide overall supervision and direction to the park maintenance and operations division of the Parks & Recreation Department, including operations supervision, contract management and project coordination. Ensure the provision of safe, aesthetically pleasing and usable parks and recreation facilities for public use. Under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director and Manager, develop and implement Parks Maintenance and Operations Management Plan for the City of Monroe. The first review for this position will be March 19, 2026. Job ResponsibilitiesProvide overall supervision to the parks maintenance and operations division of the Parks & Recreation Department. Develop and implement regularly scheduled routine, reactive and preventative park maintenance programs; develop and implement maintenance and operation support for scheduled and coordinated recreation programs and special events. Develop and implement a Parks Maintenance and Operations Management Plan. Plan will create policy, procedure, parks standards for the management and maintenance of current and future City park space. Manage all operations maintenance staff and contracts. Recruit, select, supervise and evaluate staff and contracted work; provide direction, ensure resolution of problems, set priorities and provides support to the department in decision-making. Supervise the parks maintenance and operations budget; ensure fiscally sound annual and special budget recommendations to meet division objectives. Work closely with other Parks and Recreation personnel in the development of comprehensive planning and growth of the Department. Provides input on relevant issues of administrative policy and practice. Provide technical expertise and leadership in the parks maintenance and operations area; provide expertise in solving complex maintenance, system and parks problems. Assist with, performs or directs complicated park projects or repairs. Participates as an active member of the Department planning team in the review of proposed land acquisitions, development and renovation projects to determine future maintenance needs. Work with other appropriate personnel in other divisions and departments regarding long and short-term programs and operations; communicate with other jurisdictions and departments on issues or common interests. Prepare and conduct oral and written employee performance evaluations. Recognize superior job performance. Effect correction of undesirable trends in performance consistent with established City policy. Minimum QualificationsValid Washington State Driver's License Four or more years experience in park maintenance operations or related field including supervisory and/or lead-worker experience. High school diploma or GED equivalentGraduation from an accredited two-year college or university with an appropriate degree in resource management, landscaping or related field is desired. CPSI, Pesticide License, Resource Management Certification, and CDL preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
