Location: Gibbstown, NJ (08027) Salary Range: $130,000-$175,000 (+) based on experience and qualifications. Direct Reports: 2-7 Position Overview: The Controller is responsible for all aspects of Accounting and Financial Reporting for Consolidated Entity and its affiliates. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and forward-thinking professional with operational experience and a proven track record of creative problem solving and change management. The Controller has a strong background in cost accounting within the chemical manufacturing industry, with a proven track record of building processes and systems from scratch to drive profitability through cost analysis and optimization. Essential Job Functions: Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Lead monthly performance financial analysis including variance analysis, trend analysis, and profitability assessments to provide financial business insights and potential areas of improvement to assist in decision-making processes. Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements for the global organization, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles and reporting standards. Lead Accounts Receivable, Payable and Treasury teams and functions. Lead Tax and regulatory compliance reporting and function. Inventory Management: Partner with the supply chain to optimize inventory turnover and minimize carrying costs, minimize excess and obsolete inventory. Ensure completeness, accuracy, and valuation assertions to include monthly reconciliation of inventory balances, monitoring of inventory levels, identification of overage and aging material issues and developing corrective action plan, coordinating periodic physical inventories, managing inventory cost-related reserves. Partner with Operations and Supply chain and lead standard cost maintenance and variance analysis: Establish and maintain bills of material, product routings, material, labor and overhead costs. Ensure that financial assumptions related to labor, material, and overhead are reasonably accurate and that desired margins are being pursued. Analyze and forecast production costs. Plan, collect, and analyze data to drive the standard cost revaluation processes; implement cost updates periodically Manage the annual cost roll-up for all sites. Execute Variance analysis and monitor adherence to the budget. Implement cost accounting policies and procedures according to GAAP. Lead the development & ongoing management of costing methods. Develop, maintain, and promote strong internal controls in conjunction with accounting policies and GAAP. Identify weaknesses and develop processes/tools to close gaps. Partner with Operations and Supply chain and develop cost estimates for new products/new business initiatives, ultimately leading to a decision for the given initiative. Run pricing models in various scenarios. Partner with other key leaders in pricing decisions. Prepare and analyze customer and item profitability. Partner with Operations and Supply chain and lead the manufacturing conversion and cost standardization and create a global standardization system. Lead plants' Performance Management related to sales (margins), inventory and production analysis; proven ability to convert large data into useful information and develop predictive models based on the information obtained. Communicate cost related performance, risks and opportunities, and other pertinent issues to upper management. Actively participate in Annual Budget and periodic Forecasting process. Identify savings initiatives and other opportunities to reduce the plant's total delivered cost, become a vocal champion in support of these initiatives, and provide thought leadership to support the plant's continuous process-improvement initiatives. Lead CAPEX projects' assessment (ROI) to support decision making, and fixed asset management, including asset capitalization, depreciation and idle asset reporting. Lead month-end related close activities in all financial cycle close, prepare journal entries related to cost allocation, inventory adjustments, and reserves analysis, analyze and reconcile key inventory. Produce and analyze periodic financial reports. Lead Payroll and Headcount trend analysis, Human capital budget vs actual reporting and position and headcount management reporting, in collaboration with Payroll/Human Resources. Lead or participate in related major initiatives including implementation of major business process applications, assessment of systems requirements and recommendation for automation and BI utilization. Optimize ERP system inventory management and production module. Perform additional duties/tasks as needed or requested by management. Qualifications: 7+ years Accounting and Operational experience in a manufacturing industry (Chemical manufacturing industry preferred) with progressing responsibilities. 4+ years leading accounting teams. Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive change, and foster a collaborative work environment. Thorough understanding of supply chain and operational functions and proven record of collaboration initiatives with operations such as capacity expansions, infrastructure initiatives, safety, and other production line throughput improvements efforts. Demonstrated knowledge and application of GAAP. Exceptional computer skills (Microsoft Office). Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Solid work ethic with a high level of energy and integrity. Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Excellent verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills and ability to clearly articulate complex information to others. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong negotiation skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines and be well organized; adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements. Strong business acumen, with the ability to align initiatives with organizational objectives and drive innovation and transformation. Desired Skills: Microsoft D365/DAX knowledge preferred but not required. Education/Certifications: Bachelor's Degree, Accounting major required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) strongly preferred. Safety: Comply with all safety regulations; maintains a safe work environment at all times. Minimal need to balance, stoop, bend, kneel or climb. Work Environment: This position is located in an office setting, within a manufacturing facility. Noise intensity level: quiet to low. Employees may occasionally need to enter manufacturing or lab areas, which may include exposure to moderate noise, moving equipment, and hazardous contaminants. When entering these areas, employees must adhere to all applicable safety protocols, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. Occasional travel may be required for audits, inspections, external site visits, or industry conferences.
