What You Will Do: The successful candidate will be willing and able to: Provide comprehensive medical services to Center patients consistent with specialty scope of pediatrics in a community clinic environment, including taking appropriate health history, performing physical examination, developing differential diagnoses, completing medical work-up, performing or ordering appropriate lab, imaging, and other tests, prescribing, and implementing appropriate therapy according to standard medical practice. Obtain appropriate consults when problems presented are outside the scope of practice or area of expertise or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the patient's care. Facilitate transfer of care to other clinicians when religious or personal beliefs interfere with the clinician's ability to offer full care options. Provide oral and written health education to patients and their families and answer questions, and work closely with other clinic staff that provide these services to assure the provision of appropriate education and information, including follow-up, for clients. Maintain productivity standards in order to sustain fiscal viability while maintaining high quality medical care. Answer messages and sign off on clinical reports (consults, lab, x-rays, etc.) in a timely manner. Attend continuing education programs and provide evidence of necessary education completion to upgrade medical skills and maintain licensing requirements. Language Skills (Preferred): Bilingual or multilingual communication skills in English and Russian, Farsi, Pashto/Pushto, or Spanish are preferred to support the needs of the communities we serve, where more than 50% of patients report a primary language other than English. RequirementsCompletion of a M.D. or D.O. degree from an U.S. accredited medical school, school of osteopathy medicine, or FMG with ECFMG or Fifth pathway certification. Board Certified or Eligible for Board Certification in Family Practice, Internal Medicine or Pediatrics. Current, valid and unsuspended State of California medical licensure. DEA Certificate required. Current CPR certification required. At least 1-2 years of experience working with underserved, low-income persons or homeless persons preferred. A strong commitment to serve medically underserved families. Experience in managing all aspects of pediatric primary care practice; current, standard medical practices, treatments, tests, and therapies for children from birth to 19 years of age, including acute care, chronic illness management, preventive care, development, behavior, and psychopharmacology. Experience with clinical quality measures such as: HRSA core measures, HEDIS, PCMH, etc. Able to give & receive constructive feedback while employee holds himself/herself and others accountable. Exercising good judgment in clinical decision making and client care. Speaking and understanding another language highly desirable. Ability to pass all mandated compliance training to meet regulations from all governmental and clinical agencies. Ability to supervise Physician Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners in the area of pediatrics, in accordance with California regulations and Elica policies Additional Requirements Must have a current and valid California driver's license and the ability to provide proof of personal auto insurance on the vehicle driven during working hours. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
