District #117 Date Available: 08/01/2026 Closing Date: 03/01/2026 District: Community High School District 117 Description: School Psychologist School Year: 2026-27 Location: District 117 (shared services between LCHS, ACHS, and Life Skills Academy) Application Procedure: Apply Online Pay Rate: via Salary Schedule AppendixTITLE: School Psychologist DEPARTMENT: Student Services LICENSURE: Professional Educator License ENDORSEMENT: School Psychologist QUALIFICATION: Master's Degree in Psychology (plus 1-year ISBE internship) CONTRACT: 195 days (180 school year + 15 additional days) REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Student Services EVALUATION: Completed by Assistant Superintendent of Student Services JOB GOAL(S): The School Psychologist engages in a number of essential job functions for special education, regular education, parents, school staff, and the community at large including: Individual and group assessment/counseling, Consultation, Program Evaluation and Community Networking. MAJOR DUTIES & PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The criterion indicated below are intended to describe various types of work that may be performed. Individual and Group Assessment Evaluation Intellectual functioning; Cognitive processing Achievement and current educational functioning Adaptive behavior Functional performance Social/emotional development Behavior: Parents/student interview Assessment of learning environment and school climate Report Writing Score protocols, interpret scores Prepare data slides for re-evaluation meetings Order protocols and testing materials when needed Goal updates Lead domain, re-evaluation and initial evaluation meetings Serve as the Local Education Agency representative at meetings where directed by the administration Coordinate scheduling of domain and evaluation meetings in collaboration with case managers Coordinate investigation of threat assessment concerns Academic Assessments, i.e. CBA/CBM, classroom observations, review of records Behavioral Assessments, i.e. observation, anecdotal records, time samples, behavior rating scales, functional analysis of behavior and behavior intervention plans development Counseling with Students Individual caseload, i.e. satisfy weekly IEP minutes, update quarterly IEP progress reports, short-term, crisis intervention Group, i.e. development of social skills, support groups for general education and IEP students Multi-tiered System of Supports School-wide MTSS team member Assist with Child Find responsibilities and identification of students requiring special education evaluation Coordinate progress monitoring for specific academic interventions Help with administration of social-emotional learning assessments Develop and implement plans for individual students; progress monitor Eligibility for Specific Learning Disabilities and special education services Consultation Member of multidisciplinary team Behavior management techniques Adapting instruction to individual needs and learning styles Consulting on classroom and mainstreaming techniques Crisis intervention Problem solving and conflict resolution Support of instructional staff Program development based on individual student needs Provide effective alternatives to teachers, parents and administrators regarding problems in behavior and learning Collect specific data in order to determine whether test scores show a pattern of improvement or a curricular weakness. Program Evaluation/Research Investigating the application of curriculum based assessment Comparing effectiveness of curriculum materials with specific populations Reviewing recent research and comparing effectiveness of testing materials/tools Community Networking Liaison as needed between family, school and community support agencies/professionals Providing information to community groups
