To be eligible for the position, all applicants must be at least 18 years of age and either a U.S. citizen or provide a copy of their valid Permanent Resident Card. Applications may not be reviewed until April/May. Job Description Shift: This is a part-time and seasonal position with variable daily work hours. The shift starts at 6:00 am. Shift end time varies based on daily routes. General Statement of duties: Rides on and/or follows behind a refuse truck, goes from property to property collecting refuse and/or recyclables materials and returning it to the truck for disposal. Distinguishing Features of the Class: This position requires heavy physical work. Therefore, employees in this class must be in good physical condition. Repetitive work is expected to be performed. Duties must be performed efficiently. Examples of Work: Serves as a laborer. Responsible for discarding household trash, yard waste, and/or recyclable materials and placing containers back properly. Responsible for personal safety practices, safety of crew, driver, and traffic in general. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Physical ability to work outdoors in extreme and adverse conditions is a must. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with minimum detail. Must possess adequate communication skills and deal tactfully with citizens of the public. Acceptable Experience and Training: High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
