Job Description Are you an experienced Internal Auditor ready for a unique opportunity to grow with an environmental state agency? Join TCEQ! YOUR FUTURE TEAM As part of the commissioners' office, you would support the commissioners as they establish overall agency direction and policy and make their final determinations on contested permitting and enforcement matters. See details about what we do. This position is a member of our Chief Auditor's Office Division. HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGPerform routine to moderately complex or primarily small to medium in scale internal audits to determine compliance with laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Conduct research related to the audit, advisory services, or other engagements for program economy, efficiency, and effectiveness or for improvements in governance, risk management, and control processes; develop conclusions on the collected data; and reports erroneous or questionable transactions and findings. Prepare working papers to document the results of the work performed, including interviews, data analysis, and other documentation. Conduct or assist with follow-up assessments to determine implementation status of recommendations. KEY QUALIFICATIONSExperience conducting and/or participating in internal audit projects. Experience in state government auditing and/or accounting. REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university plus one year of full-time experience in accounting, auditing, or an analytical field. One year of full-time experience in auditing, accounting, or an analytical field may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education. OR Certification as a public accountant (CPA), internal auditor (CIA), or information systems auditor (CISA). Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ. Work Schedule Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Chief Auditor's Office.
