Job Description

Role: Senior Electrical Engineer Work Location: Round Lake, IL (Chicago Area) Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on, highly technical Senior Electrical Engineer to support infusion systems. This role is responsible for both New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining engineering of embedded electronics, sensor interfaces, power systems, GUI display hardware, and safety-critical control systems. You will own the design, development, and support of embedded electronic systems across the full product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Technical Ownership Design, develop, and support embedded electronic systems across the entire product lifecycle. Develop microcontroller-based control platforms. Integrate sensors (pressure, flow, air-in-line, occlusion). Design motor and actuator drive electronics. Develop power architectures including AC/DC conversion, battery backup, and energy optimization. Design GUI display electronics, including display controllers, backlight drivers, capacitive touch hardware, and power regulation. Architect robust, EMI-compliant hardware interfaces to support GUI responsiveness, user interaction, and system diagnostics. Ensure designs meet regulatory and quality standards (IEC 60601-1, 60601-1-2, 60601-2-24, FDA design controls, ISO 13485). Lead design documentation, schematic reviews, FMEA, hazard analysis, and verification test planning. Mandatory Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. 5+ years of embedded electronic design experience in regulated, safety-critical environments (medical device experience strongly preferred). Strong experience with: Microcontroller-based systems Sensor integration Motor and actuator drive electronics Power system design (AC/DC, battery systems) GUI display electronics and touch interfaces Experience designing EMI-compliant hardware. Working knowledge of medical device regulatory standards (IEC 60601 series, FDA design controls, ISO 13485). Proven ability to deliver reliable, compliant, and manufacturable designs from concept through post-market support. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with infusion systems or Class II/III medical devices. Experience with cross-functional product development teams. Strong documentation and verification planning skills.
