POSITION TITLE: FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF GROUNDS AND FACILITIES POSITION SUMMARY: Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and provide our staff & students with peace of mind as you work as part of a cohesive team that includes the rest of the maintenance staff to provide efficient, timely and effective maintenance service. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Adhere to maintenance budgets. Upkeep of all mechanical equipment in the district. General maintenance tasks, cleaning, carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repair. Perform electrical installations, carpentry/construction, furnace and air conditioner repairs, filter changing, coil cleaning, plumbing and appliance repairs, drywall and painting repairs, miscellaneous installation and repairs, minor roof repairs, etc. Perform preventive maintenance to insure building systems operate. Repair of building fixtures, lights, windows, etc. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems. Rotating and emergency on-call service and responsibility required. Practice safety and promote safety awareness with other employees. Perform such other duties as directed or required by the Facilities Director. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Demonstrates effective English communication in both oral and written form. Demonstrate initiative, organizational and time management skills. Demonstrate ability to work independently or as part of a team. Knowledge of general plumbing and general carpentry essential. Demonstrates basic computer skills. Skilled at troubleshooting system problems. Verbal communication skills with ability to interact with staff. Ability to climb ladders and lift objects of 50+ lbs. Hold or be eligible for a valid Colorado driver's license. Pass a background check, including CBI fingerprinting. Able to lift, bend, squat, kneel and twist. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of experience in building and mechanical maintenance including plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, appliance repair, painting and drywall. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Technical or vocational certificate and/or degree preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to perform/coordinate emergency building repairs, including working with subcontractors. Experience in the safe handling and use of relevant power tools. EPA certified in Freon recovery and handling. Such other alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
