Job Description

Description Provide knowledge of applicable lifeguarding techniques in case of emergency. Maintain surveillance of swimmers. Maintain safe environment of aquatic facility. Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Maintain all NYS Department of Health Code regulations as set forth in the camp policy manual for aquatics and lifeguarding. Essential Responsibilities:Report to the pool, in proper guard attire, 5-10 minutes prior to the start of shift. Unlock pool and locker rooms. Be prepared to open pool and begin guarding at designated time. Observe swimmers and be prepared to assist if needed. Operate on rotating schedule with secondary guard. Run regular buddy checks. Enforce pool rules at all times. Close and lock pool at the end of each shift. Communicate any scheduling issues or pool issues to the Aquatics Director immediately. Other Information: Hours - vary upon week, no more than 10-12 hours per week from 6/17/24-8/6/24. Includes afternoon/evening and some weekends. Pay rate is $16 - $17 per hour. Qualifications Applicants must hold up to date certifications from American Red Cross for Lifeguarding & CPR/AED/First Aid or equivalent certifications from NYS Department of Health recognized providers. Certifications must not expire during the time of employment or must have arrangements for recertification ahead of time. Waterfront certification is a plus. As a reminder - NYS requires YEARLY recertification in CPR/AED.
